That’s a really difficult question! I find it really inspiring reading about some of the first women in computer science.
For example, Grace Hopper invented the first compiler for a computer programming language in the early 50s. She’s also credited with popularising the term ‘debugging’ after her team found an actual moth in their computer!
I’m really struggling with this one. I have a lot of respect for Feynman who developed a large portion of quantum mechanics and particle physics, and Turing who proposed and developed the concept of the computer. They both had the tendency of approaching everyday problems using the scientific method and not following the path laid out through tradition.
I’m not sure I’d refer to either as a role model. They’re human after all, and as with everyone, they had their own flaws.
