• Question: how long have you been a scientist

      That depends how you define a scientist! A rough definition would be ‘someone who does scientific research’. In that case, I’ve been doing research since my master’s degree, which means I’ve been a scientist for about two and a half years.

      If however you defined a scientist as ‘someone who spends most of their time doing science’, then I’d probably go back to my A levels. You could then say I’ve been a scientist for almost 8 years!

      Basically the same answer as Alice – have been doing research since the last year of the undergraduate degree which would make it 4 years give or take a few months 🙂 Trace that back beyond strict research would put it at about 8 years 😮

      The Phd years (the last 1 and a half) have really flown by though!
