The discovery of gravitational waves supports the theory of general relativity. The Big Bang theory of the beginning of the universe is a prediction of general relativity, so the detection of gravitational waves supports this prediction.

We hope that in the future we might be able to detect gravitational waves from the Big Bang itself – there are currently experiments running to do this.
