We asked Emma to tell us about winning I’m a Scientist, and here is what she said…

Hi Everyone!

Well that was two very hectic and exciting weeks we just had! The ‘I’m a Scientist, Get me out of here’ competition was an incredible experience. I would like to thank the organisers and moderators for executing such an amazing event. Thank you to all of the students, teachers and scientists who took part. You really made the event come alive!

It was great to be a part of I’m a Scientist. I was impressed by how enthusiastic the students were and the fascinating questions they asked. I found answering the questions very addictive! The live chats added a another level to the competition by being incredibly intensive. I really had to think fast on my feet and type even quicker!

The Gravity Zone had some amazing scientists – Alice, Steve, Christian and Bose. It was very interesting to see how each scientist answered the different questions. This really helped me develop my communication skills. I thought it might get a bit heated in the office with Alice, especially as the competition progressed. Instead, we worked together and helped each other throughout the event.

Now that I’m a Scientist is over, I’ll be filling the void with planning and organising my outreach project straight away! Firstly I need to plan the structure of workshops and get in touch with local schools.

Thank you again to everyone involved. It has been a truly awesome experience!!
